COMMUNITY MISSION

Our main mission is to conduct joint EELISA research activity in the areas of philosophy of technology, science and technology studies, law and cultural studies. In particular focus are ethics, epistemology and metaphysics of AI, law of AI, and material culture, including design studies. Based on this research we aim at undertaking a much-needed education of the educators; responding to the increased need in engineering studies for applied ethics and law. Part of this mission is the development of open access education materials, preferably shared and harmonized among EELISA members and beyond with an open license. The education activities should span from BSc to PhD level.

JOINT ACTIVITIES TO BE DESIGNED

  • Joint research workshops among EELISA researchers and invited experts on the fields of the community, resulting in publications. This activity may include ethical evaluation and assessment of technologies developed at EELISA institutions.
  • PhD-level courses and seasonal schools in Philosophy of Technology, Law and Technology and Culture Studies.
  • Content harmonization workshops for course material development in philosophy, law and culture targeted for engineering students.
