Job Opening: Doctoral Candidate in the Research Field of Electromechanical Engineering
In the research sector of electromechanical engineering at the Institute for Factory Automation and Production Systems (FAPS), innovative production technologies for future mobility are researched. The focus is on the design and automation of production processes for components of electric drive technology, esp. for electric vehicles, industrial applications, hybrid electric flying, and inductive charging technology.
Your task will include the following activities:
- Production of sheet metal (rotary processes, laser cutting, printing, etc.) and sheet metal packages (e.g. dovetailing, welding, clamping, glueing, temporary fixing)
- Winding and laying processes for round and flat wire or strands
- Insulation processes (e.g. thermoplastic/thermoset over-moulding, powder coating)
- Contacting processes (e.g. hot crimping or laser welding)
- Implementation of Industry 4.0 techniques (e.g. sensor integration, Big Data, machine learning, digital twin/shadow, simulation, and optimization)
- Additive manufacturing (e.g. 2D/3D printing of sheet metal, insulation, motors)
The tasks are embedded in:
- Publication of results e.g. at international conferences
- Business trips to European research partners
- Application and processing of publicly funded research projects
- Cooperation with industrial companies in the research field
- Teaching and public relations (e.g. trade fairs, seminars)
Candidates are required to have the following qualifications:
- Engineering degree (M.Sc./diploma) in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or equivalent degree
- Knowledge in the field of mechatronic systems, especially automated handling systems, sensor technology as well as control and regulation technology
- Strong project mindset
- Strong organizational, written, oral, and methodological skills
What we can offer you:
- Future-oriented research projects with close collaboration with well-known industrial partners
- Development of your professional skills with qualification measures
- Opportunity to gain a doctoral degree (Dr.-Ing.)
- Freedom to shape and drive research on your responsibility
- A high-qualified, dynamic, and young team to shape technologically advanced solutions for future manufacturing plants
- Excellent equipped office space and laboratories
- Flexible working hours and international travels
Requirements:
Your applications should include the following:
• 2-page motivation letter
• Curriculum vitae
• Link to projects, Github account and/or any software developed
• Copy of academic records (only official records are acceptable)
• Further documents such as representative publications, letters of recommendation, job references
