Workshop: “New occupation and qualification in green and smart air transport”
Period: 27-28 september 2023
Place: Universidad Politécnica de Madrid
Organisers: University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest (UNESCO Chair), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Université de Strasbourg, Airport College International Ltd and Menzies Aviation Romania SA.
The aviation industry is evolving rapidly with the advent of new technologies and the urgent need to address environmental issues. Therefore, there is a growing demand for professionals with new skills and qualifications in the field of green and smart air transport.
To meet this demand, there are a variety of new occupations and qualifications emerging in the industry. These include roles in sustainable aviation fuel production and distribution, electric and hybrid aircraft technology and data analytics for intelligent air traffic management.
Within the workshop "New occupation and qualification in green and smart air transport", the analysis carried out by the Erasmus+ project "Creative digital teaching and learning for green air transport and logistics" (AVIONIC) on the evolution of new occupations and qualifications in air transport link to the digitalisation is presented. At the workshop, organised also with the support of the "EELISA" project, representatives from European higher education institutions, airports, airline operators, air traffic control providers and students will be participants.
The workshop will be a challenge for a university-business dialogue in order to develop a modern internationalised aviation education, well attuned to the future requirements of air transport regarding the digitalisation of air transport and the reduction of environmental impact.
