| COMMUNITY MISSION: |
| NextGen Learning Design Lab (NLDL) is an interdisciplinary and intercultural community exploring the future of learning in the age of generative AI. Our goal is to develop innovative teaching and learning formats that empower students, educators and practitioners to use AI meaningfully and responsibly in education. Our community revolves around three core topics: 1. AI-supported learning and teaching – We explore how generative AI opens up new didactic possibilities and individualizes learning processes. 2. Future skills and lifelong learning – We teach skills that are crucial in an AI-supported working environment, including critical thinking, digital ethics and creative problem solving. 3. Co-creation and experimentation spaces – We create open formats in which teachers and students jointly test and reflect on new approaches. Our community is aimed at students, university lecturers, researchers and education experts who are interested in transformative learning methods. Through workshops, webinars and digital exchange formats, we promote the practical transfer of knowledge and a critical examination of AI in university teaching. Our contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) NextGen Learning Design Lab particularly supports SDG 4 (quality education) by harnessing digital innovation to make education more inclusive, cross-cultural, personalised and future-oriented. We also contribute to SDG 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure) by exploring the intersection of AI, technology and education and developing new teaching formats. | BRIEF STATEMENT ON THE COMMUNITY MISSION |
| The NextGen Learning Design Lab (NLDL) researches and designs innovative teaching and learning methods with generative AI. Our community connects university teachers, students and education experts to promote future skills and develop transformative educational formats. Our focus is on co-creation, critical reflection and the sustainable integration of AI. |
| WHICH JOINT ACTIVITIES WOULD YOU LIKE TO DESIGN FOR EELISA? |
| We would like to build up and promote the “Generative AI Experience Lab” as an EELISA activity format which provides an interdisciplinary, challenge-based learning initiative bringing students, educators, and industry partners together to collaboratively design digital, prototypes addressing real-world sustainability challenges in different industries, leveraging Generative Learning Experience Design (GLX-Design) and Design Thinking. Furthermore, through workshops, webinars and digital exchange formats, we promote the practical transfer of knowledge and a critical examination of AI in university teaching. |
