The Re-shape Next Generation Academia community is created with the goal to bridge the gap between early researchers (master, PhD candidates and post-docs) and various stakeholders within the EELISA ecosystem. It will foster collaboration and knowledge exchange by providing a central online hub for activities, events, and information relevant to their academic and professional development. An OECD study published on September 2023 highlighted the lack of support for diverse career paths for doctoral and postdoctoral researchers. This initiative addresses this challenge by promoting networking opportunities and expanding researchers' horizons within and beyond academia. This initiative benefits PhD students and postdoctoral researchers from all EELISA partners. Our goals are:
  • To boost the connection and networking between each PhD community within each EELISA partner.
  • To nurture the academic sphere by accessing new ecosystems.
  • To boost the connection and participation from EELISA early researchers with key stakeholders beyond academia from each ecosystem.
  • To enhance the connection between the early-stage EELISA researchers and the key non-academic stakeholders across the different partner ecosystems.
  • To expand their interests and capabilities through different activities and events.
  • To contact other PhD communities from other alliances, in order to provide an European university trans-alliance perspective.
Expected Outcomes
  • To develop a platform with EELISA PhD candidates and post-doctoral researchers.
  • To organize several activities to boost connection in an online and in person format.
  • To organize several activities to boost connections with key stakeholders from each different ecosystem related and/or not related to their main research field.
  • To offer workshops and activities focused on transversal needs and/or specific areas of interest and research.
Impact and Feasibility
  • To match researchers based on their interests.
  • To organize events in person, defined in 4 levels: country, between universities, all EELISA ecosystems and between different European University Alliances.
  • To organize a contest such as "your PhD in 1 minute", and other dynamics.
  • To organize meetings with different stakeholders from each different ecosystem, which implies public and private institutions.
  • To offer a marketplace of potential collaborations, job offers or related within the platform.
